Concept: Frigid Dragon
This species of dragons can only be found in massive ice canyons. At birth they are very fragile but a special material in their scales allows them to gradually build ice to serve as a primary layer of armor. Soon after birth the glands near the mouth begin to produce liquid nitrogen, which the young can use by biting into their prey. By the time they become adults they will have learned to control their own glands well enough to emit freezing breaths. The hardest part of its armor is the head, the ice particles can become so condensed to match the strength of any diamond. Because of this, greed-filled kings have lost empires to gain this material, as jewelry made from it is valued highly and weapons made from it last for several generations.
